Biography
Arham Aryadi is a distinguished Indonesian composer, renowned for his innovative approach to music. As the founder and Music Director of the Indonesian Contemporary Gamelan Ensemble (ICGE). Arham holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Composition from the Conservatory of Music at Pelita Harapan University and a Master of Arts in Urban Arts Creation from the Postgraduate Jakarta Institute of Arts. Arham is also actively involved in education, teaching at various universities and sharing his knowledge and expertise with the next generation of musicians. Furthermore, he co-founded the Indonesian National Orchestra (INO) with composer Franki Raden, and has been instrumental in developing and promoting the orchestra's artistic vision.
Currently serving as the Chairman of the Music Committee at the Jakarta Arts Council from 2023 to 2026, Arham's musical vision centers around the fusion of Indonesian traditional music with Western classical and electronic music elements. His compositions have garnered international acclaim, with performances by esteemed ensembles worldwide, including Ensemble Modern (Germany), Hong Kong New Music Ensemble (Hong Kong), HKU Gamelan Ensemble (Hong Kong), Ensemble Multilatérale (France), Quatour Bozzini (Canada), Ensemble Studio C (Malaysia), and UiTM Gamelan Ensemble (Malaysia).
In addition to his work with renowned ensembles, Arham has collaborated with various dance, theater, and film productions to bring his innovative musical concepts to life. He is also a member of the Asia Traditional Music Committee and serves as a committee member for traditional music at the Asian Cultural Council (ACC) Korea, contributing to the preservation and promotion of traditional music in Asia and fostering cultural exchange between Indonesia and Korea. Through his work, Arham continues to inspire and contribute to the rich cultural heritage of Indonesia, while also exploring new frontiers in music.
